Windows continually rebooting after adding new memory cards

Post by Samuel4u »

I have just increased my memory with 2x1MG memory cards. I identified that they would be compatible using crucial.com.

After I installed the new cards my computer is extremely unstable and continually shuts down and reboots - even from safe mode.

I am running Windows XP Home
Processor is AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+
According to set up pages BIOS is AMI BIOS Version 08.00.09 revision 1006.003

(although I havent got a clue what that means - i just saw on one forum that BIOSmay be an issue)

OK so any ideas? I am tearing my hair out and I havent got much left as it is!!

Oh and bear in mind I am not very technical please!

When you ran through the memory selection utility at Crucial....you used your motherboard for reference?

I'd start with making sure the latest BIOS is on the motherboard.

Are you mixing the RAM with existing RAM sticks?

Overclocking at all?
