encryption soft

Post by mandolina »

hello all

i've contacted the costumer support from SecurStar and they were quite helpful in informing me about everything i needed to know.

perusing their page i came across DriveCrypt (i'm interested in it for personal use, not for my job) so now i am asking about your opinion regarding this software, DriveCrypt. i am especially interested in it's traveler mode feature...seems pretty cool.

have a nice day guys!

Hello

I used DriveCrypt as a trial because I was also curious about its Traveler Mode feature. DriveCrypt is a very good software easy to install and use, even for not so high qualified users, but is true that the password(s) you use have to be strong in order to have the data's secured. This software is giving you the possibility of using up to 4 passwords for each encrypted volume (container). There are some other feature to improve the security such as: "The Red Low Level Message Screen" (you can avoid the possibility of keyboard messages, between Win and the application, being copied by another program or process or sniffer), "The Lockout Console" function which allows you to block the console access to your computer, whenever you need to leave it alone for a while and you can use different hardware devices to improve the security such as eToken or fingerprint reader , in addition to the pass phrase used . However I am sorry that I can not tell you how the Traveler mode works because when you have just the trial you can not use it, the customer support told me I need a license for that :( .
If I made you somehow curious about this software you could download it on your computer and try it , just do not forget the password you use or you`ll lose the encrypted files :D

hi workaholic44,

thank you for the very useful information. i can see that you are pleased with this soft.

i was wondering if you also use SurfSolo, from the same company, it's like VPN but for personal use. if you do or if you have any idea about this software please let me know what your thoughts are :)

thanks again and have a good day!

Hi,

I thought about using SurfSolo and I also read about it on the home page of the provider but at the moment I`m still searching for other possibilities. From what I read about it it sounds OK because it allows you to become anonymous on the internet by changing your IP address creating an encrypted virtual tunnel between your computer and one of their high bandwidth security proxy servers. It protects automatically your chat activity and existing IM accounts too. In addition to the above, they offer you also a fully anonymous email account and a free firewall.

If you`ll try it let me know how it works.
Cya!
