dsl upgrade? w/analyzer R

Hi, I just upgraded my dsl and am not getting the results I thought I would, so my question is do I need to modify my TCP settings?

What speed did you pay your ISP to give you?

I had 1.5mbps now I should be at 10mbps. On the ISP's speed test its showing my max around 7mbps

Run again the settings I gave. TCP Window should be 255552.

I'm not sure what its doing because on my optimizer it shows the number (255552) but when I run the analyzer it shows (255840)??

I just did it again from scratch and the same thing happened..

You may have some running program changing TCP Window.

Cannot find any process in the log that adjust TCP Window. But the following seems problematic:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_FATIBVA.EXE - the same .exe file is loaded 3 times.

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - this is loaded twice.

Uninstall the driver for your Epson printer, clean your registry with CCleaner. reboot comp and re-install the said driver.

Then post another TCP Analyzer report.

Hi, I'm back. Ok did the uninstall and ccleaner but just left the driver out since that printer is down anyways. But still same thing ; It seems to be changing my TTL also. I also put the tcpoptimizer back to default rebooted and started over?

OK so when I go to my modems ip address it shows me at 8446kbits/sec(upload) and 555kbits/sec (download)...

What does that tell me?

It means your distance to the ISP is limiting your speed to 8.4 mbps.

Go to http://www.cablenut.com and download the Cablenut Adjuster.

Run the program and enter the value for just this field while leaving the other fields a blank or at existing values:

DefaultReceiveWindow - 255552

Save and reboot to take effect.

Ping times are fluctuating.

Do the following to correct:

Clean comp and registry with CCleaner.

Scan comp for malware with SpyBot and Ad-Aware 2007.

Make sure your router and modem are placed a few feet away from ALL other electrical devices, including away from each other.

The max pauses that is..

Speed fluctuates with ping times - higher and lower.

Now speed is a consistent 7 mbps and ping time ave 55ms, between 23 and 88 ms.

Your modem is already connected at only 8.4 mbps out of the 10 mbps line - probably due to your distance to the ISP's CO.

Check to see if you need to update its firmware.

Wireless router may be the cause for getting only 7 mbps out of 8.4 mbps. A wired connection may get 7.5 mbps.

See if you can get bandwidth higher at the modem.

I cant seem to find a way to update the modem... Its a westell 6100 but I got it through Centurytel(my isp) so its not supported by westell... I'll try to give them(centurytel) a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Well century tel tells me that I'm out of luck, that you cant do that to these modems.. I found on the westell site that my model is set up to run up to 8mbps but is capable to run 28 so it seems to me that it might need to be set up different.
Just to see I went ahead and dropped the wireless for now, but no real change.
