My PC not connecting to internet or network

Post by smartcard »

I have XP SP2, Avast Home Edition AV, COMODO Firewall and Lavasoft Lite.

My internet is connecting via the Linksys DSL router using the network card.

From last night onwards the PC stopped getting an IP address from the router, thus no internet. I tried the router no problem, and any other PC connecting the router is working fine.

I tried using dial-up to my ISP it connects but I can't browse.

I tried booting my PC using BART PE bootdisk and it connects to the router and works find.

So the problem is in my XP systems.

I tried complete scan (with the current definitions) using Avast, Stinger and Lavasoft.

Still the problem exists.

Please help me.

It sounds like you know what you're doing since you have other PC's set up fine.

I'd run through your internet connection setup again, just to be sure it's set it up right.

Also check your firewall settings, and check the windows firewall settings as well.

Download Spybot Search and Destroy, install it, update it and then check for problems and remove all it finds. It's a bit better than Lavasoft

Direct link to the installer

Also reboot your PC
