Moving back home

Post by burple »

Well the time has finally come. After 17 years in DFW, I am moving back to my hometown in Louisiana. Me,my fiancee and my kids are moving back next weekend. My dad had a major stroke out there last week and my whole family is out there. And that with the combination of the cost of living out here now and decline of economy here was the final decision maker. Not to mention my company CHL was just bought out by Bank of America and things are not looking to stable there now. I will be getting a job working for the state with my brother. I can not wait. The cost of living out there is so cheap. I can get a 3 bedroom home for just over 300.00 a month out there. You can not even get an efficiency for that out here. Wish me luck.

A while back I did the same thing and moved back to the area I grew up. Feels more like home. Hope your dad does well.

Thanks guys. I hope it does work out. I am sure it will. Been wanting to go back for a long time and now circumstances make it the best thing to do.

We're starting to see that here...houses that two years ago would of sold for 300K+ around Stockton are selling for 97K...setting back home prices almost 20 years if not more...

It has always been cheap for houses out there though. But the issue was lack of jobs. Now there are more jobs available out there for me so that help.

Oh I forgot to mention one big downside. I will be on dial up for a little while out there. I am temporarily moving by my family and not highspeed out there at all. It is the sticks after all. But I will end up getting a place closer to downtown of the whopping 2k people and they do offer DSL.

Best of luck to you on your relocation, though it is a tough time of year to be moving across state, if you are referring to going soon. I am sorry about your Father however, and wish him the speediest of recovery.

There is just no place like home...when you feel it is home...even in the sticks. I have never had, nor still can get anything but dial up in my location...so I am very accustomed to it. Can't imagine having high speed though, and reverting back...but there is life! :)
