very bad problem

hhey guys i have cable internet, i have a motorola suirfboard 5120 connected to a router and then to my computer (wired connection) and at random times i cant use firefox, internet explorer and steam. but im still connected to vent and can talk, but i cant use the internet, and ideas to what the problem can be, i used all the spyware cleaner and stuff and nothing. i have no firewall runing. im connected thru an ethernet. but every hour i lose connection to the internet and counter-strike but not to vent.... need help : /

btw the router is a netgear rangemax wpn824 v2

Make sure your modem is placed a few feet away from the router and any other electrical device. Turn off power to the modem for 10 mins and then reconnect.
