Antivirus removal/uninstall utilities list

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

Many of us occasionally try different antivirus programs. It's highly recommended to fully uninstall your current antivirus program, so that whatever you're installing will be most problem free.

Often the Windows installer service will leave behind quite a few remnants of any program when uninstalled...many virus makers have released their own special "removal tools" which does a better job and cleaning up little tidbits left behind.

Recommended to first run the standard uninstaller through Windows Add/Remove programs...before running these tools.

Here's a list I thought I'd start..hopefully some peeps will find it handy. Will keep adding to it as I come across new ones. If anyone doesn't see one they know on this list..feel free to add.

Nortons tool...currently called SymNRT..used to be called RNAV and RNAV2K3.
Used for removal of some of their their desktop products.

Good thread YOSC, I saw your thread at Wilders. I keep a few of these on my jump drive since it seems that most programs never uninstall properly. The only big one I can think of that you left out is McAfee:
