Help!!! CD-Rom VANISHED!!!!

My Cd-rom Icon isn't there anymore,and If I put a cd in my cd-rom drive than it gives an error message!!!!!

Please help!!! don't know what to do!

That's the problem, I did NOT do anything that might have caused this!

I was checking email,and I was chatting on MSN messenger!...After that I Shut down the comp. and the cd-rom was still there.....but when I booted it the next day....nothing......!

A few questions:

1. What OS?

2. You say it disappeared. From Explorer and Device Manager?

3. Does it show up on the DOS boot screen?

4. What does the Error message say?

5. Have you checked to make sure the IDE and Power cables are connected tightly?

Did u built the computer urself? Did the CD-ROm drive disappeared from "My Computer" mor from device manager?

try unplugging your cd-rom and plugging it back in, meaning unplugging the ide cable from the cd-rom and plugging it back in , same thing with the molex connector(power plug connected to your cd-rom), and boot up once you did that, it may not work , but you can give it a try

But it did not work!

I put cdrom in myself, but I tried unplugging it, did not work
I cannot see it when I go to This computer!

Strange....
