Overclocking

Post by RicRogue »

Ok.

I just got a 1.2 ghz Thunderbird and Abit KT7A-RAID with a Thermaltake Mini Super Orb. Can someone tell me the speeds I can reach with this system and what the BIOS needs to be set at the reach these speeds. I am new to overclocking, and am alittle afraid :o of trying this on my own.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RicRogue

Should be able to get to 1.3Ghz EASILY!! With enough cooling, can hit over 1.3Ghz. Just try to go to the BIOS, under "soft menu III" and change the FSB and multipler. Recommand you to up the FSB (front side bus) more than the Multipler. Just play around with it yourself and make sure u have enough cooling! Good luck!

P.S unlock your chip first!

Actually, the 1.2's are preunlocked I'm pretty sure. Also, get rid of the orb. They suck. Get a FOP32-1 and you will acheive much higher speeds.

OH YEA--Get rid of the Orb. I have a Copper bottom Alpha heatsink and fan. Works really well. But when you go to overclocking, you will need MAJOR cooling. Several case fans and a good CPU fan. That thing *HAS* to stay fairly cool. Under 115 degrees F. You can run warmer than that, but I would try to keep it cooler than 115. Mine runs at around 86 F until I play Q3A for a few hours. Then it get up to 105.
