The report shows a possible bad p2p client - Ares.exe

See this : http://www.answers.com/topic/ares-exe

Search Google for more info and methods to remove the program it.

A friend of mine had to reformat his hard disk after installing BearShare.

Also, use HijackThis to fix all entires that have 'file missing' or 'no file'.

You have not tell us the brand and model of your router and modem. Need this info to check if you are double NAT as your tracert is blocked.

Connect one comp (without Ares) by ethernet cable to the 2wire.

Log into your 2wire and check the connection speed under 'Network at a Glance'. Do the incoming and outgoing speed similar to what your ISP is supposed to give you?

Do a speedtest and another tracert with this comp and post. We want to check if ping times at hop 1 and hop 3 change.

Hop 3 refers to ping times along the connection line from your 2wire to the ISP's switch. There is probably a phone wire from your 2wire to a splitter and then another phone wire from the splitter to the wall socket in the room. You would also probably have a phone set connected to the splitter as well.

What kind of phone set are you using - cordless or normal?

Did you install any filter on the phone wire between the 2wire and the splitter or between the splitter and the wall socket?

A filter should only be installed along a phone wire between the phone set and the splitter. It should not be installed along the phone wire from the wall socket to the splitter or from the splitter to the modem.

Remove the filter and see if your speed improves.

i tried removing the filters 3 days ago then rebooted my comp and did some tests tracing google , yahoo , speedtest and other things but the results were the same :/

A splitter is the little box that splits your phone line from the wall socket into 2 parts: one to the modem and the other to your phone set.

Try replacing the splitter with a new one.

Open up the wall socket cover plate and ensure all wires are tightly connected down with no loose wiring sticking about.

Use your fingers to press and check all the phone wires. Any bends, wrinkles or bumbs may indicate broken wire on the inside and the cable wire needs replacing.

Since all the phone wires have been checked by your Dad's friend, the only portion that has not been checked will be to the ISP's switch. This definitely is the job of the ISP's tech.

Maybe it is time to pay a visit to their head office and demand to place your complaint directly with management.

Nothing except get your ISP to look into your line. You cannot locate and dig up their lines or go and check the connection at their switch. Only they can do so.

Are you running more than one antivirus software on your comp?

NOD32
Kaspersky
Mcfee
