How do i open the rogers cable box on the side of my house?

Post by 20grove »

I want to open the rogers cable box on the side of my house. The house used to be divided into 2 apartments but i'm now the only one living in it. The upstairs and down stairs coax cable networks are seperate from each other. They both however start inside the cable box... so i want to be able to open the box and splice them together.

This is what the box looks like

I think i found the tool to open it but i was just wondering if anyone knew for sure what i needed to open the box

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

you could open it and throw them together, but i would have the cable co do it. the db might drop to low with the added load. they would take care of it for ya.

That is the right tool if its secured with a "locking terminator". Thats what we use everyday on house stub boxes and thats the tool we issue to our techs. I would need to see an upclose picture of the hole in the top of the box to be sure. DO NOT set it up inside with a splitter feeding a splitter feeding a splitter...ect. if you need 4 active lines ....use a 4 way splitter ect. Anything larger thn a 4 way might need a small house amp to compensate for the insertion loss of the larger splitter. Make sure all your fitting are good and tight and you should have any problems with the CATV Company.

BTW I wouldnt bother buying the tool, if its a "locking terminator" you can remove tham by filling the center with super glue gel, wait overnight and unscrew it with needle nose pliers. FYI. At lease that it what I have seen :)
I know you are, but what am I?

best to have it the same temp as your body. easiest way to accomplish this is to have you and the cable modem in the tub while working on it. hope that helps :)

I just can’t believe y’all are telling this guy how to break into his cable box. That’s against the law you know?

What he needs to is grab a jig-saw and cut a hole through the wall from the inside the house. This way he doesn’t technically break the law by vandalizing property of the cable company.

There’s more then one way to skin a cat, and usually I’m holding the tail looking at the backside of things.
