Thank you comcast!
I've not gotten upload power boost yet and I'd be glad to give up download power boost for it to work 100% of the time instead of awful packetloss still over 3 months and still going so bad that I can't game for longer than 5mins!!
speedtests are great its just not steady...

I had to call the Comcast Exec Complaint center to get something moving cause I got sick and tired of talking to them stupid ***ks on the 1800 number!!
So now I have a dedicated tech working on the issue along with a IT tech sent down to track the issue..
so in the mean time just to game on my gaming rig I had DSL hooked up... works like a charm.

Speed and service here is great. Best its ever been. Consistent, no packet loss, great latency times, and the powerboost on the download gives more speed than advertised and after the first 10 megs it will kick in again later on, I assume because its idle and not needed elsewhere, but either way its great.
I was wondering when we'd get the upload powerboost in CT and just reset my modem, did a speed test for shits and giggles and pow! 2500kbps.

Unliek your area, when comcast took over here years ago there was no underlying problem that the former company had been covering up, instead of fixing. AT&T was good about keeping stuff up-to-date, just didnt offer much speed.
Well.. it might be hiddin problems but the customer support is the worst I've ever delt with.. they think you don't know nothing and everytime you call they just read from the same old script.... I've had to insist on transfers to someone higher up..so I gave up on that and just called the TOP OFFICE..told them point blank that I've been having issues for 2months and I was tired of it.YARDofSTUF wrote:I have been, its been years too

It might be how you tell them too. Pretty much every phone support guy will want a reason to tranfer you to the next level, with no solution yet you should have asked to have a support ticket left open and copy the number down, give that to the first guy you get and then get moved right along.Sava700 wrote:Well.. it might be hiddin problems but the customer support is the worst I've ever delt with.. they think you don't know nothing and everytime you call they just read from the same old script.... SBC is hands down the worst for tech support for ISPs. Thankfully I have never used their service but at Meggie's one time trying to get something working she gave me the phone and I was amazed at the run around.
Ask to speak to someone that speaks enlish on a SBC call and then just wait as the support person yells at you for insulting them, because they will try and tell you that they DO speak english.
LOL I could sit here for 5mins and tell you at least 30support ticket numbers I've gotten written down. I got tired of them giving me one when I'd tell them you haven't even looked at the other 30yetYARDofSTUF wrote:It might be how you tell them too. I'm telling you they are the worst customer service people I've ever had the displeasure to talk to. They don't care about the single customer cause the guy thats workin on the issue now said they wanted him to fix a issue 15miles away that effected a hotel, and several other homes and businesses which started 2days prior, than fix my problem that has been going on for 2 months which we both said it wasn't just me that I was the only one that seemed to be picking up on it as will most gamers. We like I said I got heads moving now calling HIGH up...I told that woman I talked to that I was getting blown off from CSR's, left on hold for ever then line dropped.. hell I was even transfered to Atlanta's Call center when I'm in Virginia
But again they are horrible.. I love the service when it runs smooth but I've since stopped my auto bill payment and signed on to DSL to play games...so they won't get any more money out of me till its fixed and I get a 3month full credit or however long it takes.

I gotta say....I deal with many...many different ISPs on a regular basis, as part of what I do for a living. I find Comcasts support quite good, I always get what I need to get done with minimal effort on my part, which is what counts. I get a live body quickly, explain to them who I am, what I'm doing, and what I need to get done, and it's done quickly and professionally.

It took me 10tries to reply to this thread..... that should tell you something after 3months now they still haven't fixed my net.
Here is a screen shot of how ping plotter shows how much damn packetloss i get..and thats nothing. Right now its about twice as worse as you can see in the bottom graph.
I'm sure it will take me another 30seconds and several tries to post this as well.

Had really good bridged DSL prior to Comcast...small ISP that did just business accounts (I used to resell for them years ago..which is how I got their service to my house). Very low latency..but...still only DSL speeds. Once Comcast upped to 8 megs to the home..and then powerboost...those 30 meg bursts are hard to pass up.Comtrad wrote:bah, had it. Liked the speed. Hated the customer service and outages though for the price I was paying ($60 w/o their cable). Switched to DSL and have not had a single problem with it, and it's $40 cheaper/month.
Both rocked for customer service for me..and rock reliable.

I had idiot installers. They never labled my line or something along those lines, so after about a year, every month it would be cut thinking I was stealing it. I would get someone out, but then they would connect it, but not label it again. This happened 4 times before I said F off.YeOldeStonecat wrote:Had really good bridged DSL prior to Comcast...small ISP that did just business accounts (I used to resell for them years ago..which is how I got their service to my house). I'm considering the same thing.... 3 months and still no fix to my packetloss issue, Had the regional Manager and Line tech come to the house today to talk to me. I told them I have my gaming rig on DSL now and its running great, so they better figure out what is wrong and keep it that way or its full DSL for me.Comtrad wrote:bah, had it. Liked the speed. Like I said before what good is the speeds or powerboost if it doesn't stay stable.
P.s. it also took me several Submit posts to send this to the server from the computer that is still on comcast.
Yeah Comcasts support is great. My internet drops for no reason, I get no signal or anything, so I called and some canadian lady tries to connect to my modem, then she says yep I can't connect to it your modem must be bad b/c no one else in your area has reported any problems. So I go buy a new modem, when I come home the internet is back on.
Next day it drops again so i decided to hook up this new modem, it takes them an hour to get it to work and somewhere in the process two of my email addresses were deleted, still not sure how that happened. Later that day the net drops again so I call and talk to a guy and without doing anything he says I'll send someone to come out and look at your lines and run some tests. I gave them my cell phone number to call b/c my bro wasnt going to be there that day and guess who they called when the tech was coming out, yeah my brother which was in a diff state at the time and they tell me I gotta schedule another appointment.
Comcast really annoys me at times, the only times they don't annoy me is when I don't have to talk to them.

Well I'm bumping this cause as of a week ago I thought it was fixed... so I've been on DSL with my gaming rig for the last few months and called yesterday to have it cut off. Well here I am today with Comcast Cable still screwed up as it has been since April!!!

I hope they don't continue their practices against 'net neutrality' though
