KEEPING DSL CONNECTED

Post by mDeBO »

DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A PROGRAM OR TWEAK THAT CAN KEEP ME CONNECTED? I AM USING VERIZON(BELL ATLANTIC) AS MY ISP AND WINPOET SOFTWARE WITH WESTEL MODEM...LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT WILL RE-ESTABLISH MY CONNECTION(DISCONNECT SOFTWARE AND THEN RECONNECT) WHEN PC FREEZES(STATES CONNECTED BUT DATA NOT TRANSFERED) OR LOSES CONNECTION ALL TOGETHER...ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE VERY WELL APRECIATED...THANKS

Check your network card sounds like it might be bad. Plus call your provider and have them send a tec out. Or reinstall all of your software. Then reinstall your nic and see if this helps.

I just started with Varizon recently too, and I have expreience similar problem like you sometimes.
go to network neighborhood, right click to properties. Under configuration, you will see bunch of adapter. I assum you have some kinda diap-up service from before (like aol or something) REMOVE all of them. Then it will ask you to restart your computer, and update itself.
Hopefully it will help, mine improved a lot after that.
"Download Accelerator Plus" is a really good program can speed up downloading and resume.
you can download from www.cnet.com

I'm a verizon/earthlink dsl subscriber. I had the same problem and fixed it last night. Now I get no-freeze dsl goodness. If you use WinPoet or some version of PPOE try changing you NIC settings (in the TCP/IP adapter)to a fixed IP address and reboot. Damn, I can't remember the settings just now but they are posted all over the dslreports.com community boards. This simple adjustment worked wonders. I'm so happy. Good luck.
