Okay i recentlty upgraded my computer to a AMD 1Ghz with an A-bit KT7A motherboard. Before this I had a Intel Celeron 400Mhz with an A-bit BH6 motherboard. Prior to the upgrade I had no problems with windows 2000 at all. Now pretty much at random times my computer freeze. Meaning mouse and keyboard aren't responding. If it doesn't freeze sometimes the monitor will just go blank. With the same results of me having to resetting. The monitor basically goes blank and the green light turns orange on the monitor. After I reset everything is fine.
It's really getting annoying. Here are my current system specs:
Windows 2000
AMD 1Ghz
Abit KT7A Motherboard
ATI 64Mb Radeon DDR AGP
Creative Live Sound Card
Linksys and Macronix Network cards.
10GB Hardrive.
Did you do a format before you installed the new CPU and Mobo? It's common practice that if you're not gonna format before you install a new Mobo, that you go into the Device Manager and delete/uninstall ALL of the devices that are in there. Then after you install the new mobo, bootup and let Win2K reinstall all of the devices/drivers for the new mobo. You might have some old settings in there from your old Mobo that Win2k is holding on to.
