No, my profession is in property development. I am learning about computing from other members and just sharing what I have learned. Best way to acquire and retain knowledge is to apply it.

Do a tracert to http://www.yahoo.com and post.

To do a tracert, click 'Start' and then 'Run'. Type "cmd" into the box and click 'ok'.

A DOS black screen will appear. Type after the C:\>

tracert http://www.yahoo.com

and press enter key

When test is completed, move mouse cursor to the DOS black screen, click right and choose 'select all'.

Move mouse cursor to the Quick Reply box of this forum, click right and 'paste'.

The ping times at your router (hop 1) are very high and its LAN IP address is unusual.

What kind of router and modem are you using?

What is the brand and model of that little box that is connected between your computer and the telephone wire?

Wireless broadband is sensitive to signal interference from quite a few sources: florescent lights, dimmer controls, cordless phone, etc.

You may have to reposition your comp to find the location of best signal clarity. The ping times in hop 1 would then be only 1-2ms in value.

Try the tweak tips in the Wireless Networking section of our forum:
