I have a bad download rate after using Speed optimizer can anyone help with tweaking?

Is your ISP StarHub?

Try the following custom settings with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC

MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes

Your tracert does not show a router in your connection line. What Brand and model is your router and modem?

Make sure your modem is placed a few feet away from any other electrical device, including the router.

Re-install your router and make sure it does not use bridge mode. If router is functioning, all 3 ping times at hop 1 would be <1ms.

you mean what kinda uploading speed am i getting now?

cause the problem with starhub is that the upload sucks... but the download should be alot better... mines like the opposite now...

In order to download, the comp must be able to upload. Why?

During downloading, the comp must send out timely acknowledgements to the other side that data packets have been received. If upload bandwidth is saturated and such acknowledgement cannot be sent, the other side will just resend the same data packets.

So the question for torrents is, did you limit your torrent program to only use half of your ISP give upload speed? If not, then upload bandwidth will be saturated by uploading torrents and receipt acknowledgements cannot be sent out. Thus, you will be receiving the same data packets again and again.

You have the Premium plan - 12000/384 kbps

So you need to limit your torrent program to a global upload speed of 192 kbps or 24 KB/s.

Since you have turned your router on, you need to port forward your router.

First, you have to set your computer with a static LAN IP address. Follow the instruction of this link:

What torrent client are you using? Limit your default max. connections for one task to 10 and max. connections for one task to 20. If they have been set any higher, your router will be overwhelmed by too many simultaneous connections.

The speed of each torrent depends on the speed the others are sending to you. Most of us have relatively low upload speed compared with download. Thus, we can only send out torrents at small speed.

Thus, you need to be running more torrent tasks to get a higher accumulated download speed, usually 5-12 depending on your download speed and type of router.

I am now running 5 tasks. Speed for each task varies from 2-35 KB/s, with total speed at 65 KB/s.

That will depend on the no. of seeders and leechers of each task.

Try increasing no. of tasks, but make sure each have a few seeders and 8 or more leechers.

I am using BitComet.

In your BitLord, you need to change the following after applying the patch to increase no. of half-opened connections:

Option->Preferences->Connections

Max. half-opened Tcp connections: default is 10. Change this to follow the patch.

Yup. My BitComet was also in the allowed list of my Comodo firewall and speed was at 30+ KB/s. When I turned off Comodo firewall, speed went up above 100 KB/s.

Now I do not use any software firewall, just NOD antivirus.
