Win2k Per-to-Peer Network

Post by yurij_14 »

In a Peer-to-Peer Network say you have a computer running Windows 2000 Professional using NTFS and another computer in the same workgroup running WIN98 or WINME using a FAT32 File system. Can the WIN98/ME computers access information stored on the Win2k NTFS? and vice versa?

In conclusion if they cannot then is it safe to assume if you plan on using anything other then Win2k or NT in a workgroup or domain, then you should be using FAT32 so that the information is accessable by all computers?

how to explain this. when i log into a computer on a network i am useing that computer to view and access files. Win2k is useing the NTFS file system, when i log into this machine i am useing that machine (win2k pro) to view the files not the one i am logging in with win98/me. my file system does not matter. it does matter if disk compresion is running or the file is compressed useing the NTFS file system as the file won't be compressed if I transfer it to my computer. So to answer your question, no it dosen't matter if your useing fat32 and the win2K machine is useing NTFS
