Charter 10 mb

Post by JusPCs »

I just upgraded to Charter's 10 mb package from the 3 mb, which was fine, but being greedy I wanted more. Now I am having wild fluctuations. I just had a user guide me through diagnosing the problem, and was advised to contact Charter for a replacement modem.
My question is should I just purchase a specific brand and model? If I do so, it lessens the fee as I wont be leasing a modem from Charter. The downside is that I'll be responsible if it goes bad, but I have it on a battery backup in addition to a surge protector.
Anybody have a recommendation for a brand/model to purchase?

Here is one modem that can handle 10 mbps bandwidth: Motorola SB5100 Surfboard cable modem.

Got this info from another member but he is in the UK:

Check with your ISP if this modem can suit their system.
