Suggestion on using a spare computer

Hi guys,

I got a computer sitting around at the moment, what are some interesting things I can do with it?

Specs:
AMD XP2400+
512MB DDR Ram
40GB 7200rpm HD
ATI Radeon 9600Pro
Onboard sound (Got a better sound card sitting around)
DVD/CDR

I am thinking of running linux? File server? Home theater?

More background - I currently have a desktop running in my room (x2 4200, 2gb ram, 250gb), macbook, and a AMD Athlon 700Mhz PC running that's in my father's room.

Suggestions?

Replace your fathers old slow PC with it..take his old PC..build a linux router.
