I have 4 gateway computers and one printer. All connected via ethernet. i would like to be able to allow each to print to the single printer connected to one of the computers. It is connected with parallel cable. Printer does not have ethernet so I must share and print that way. However, I have never done that and the windows help is getting me know where.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try going into control panel, select the printer icon. When it prompts you to add a printer, follow the instructions. Make sure you select "Network Printer" and not local.

do you have win98se ? because printer sharing is a piece of cake,you need the driver for each machine and enable printer sharing on each box.

CD First thing yo need to do is "Share Out" the printer from the computer that it's hooked to. To do this "Start/Settings/Printers" then right click on the Printer and choose the "Sharing"
then click Shared As and give it a name. This will allow the other computers to see it. THEN you have to install the printer on any/all computers on your network you want to use the printer from. Do this the same way you'd install a printer on any PC just pick a "Network Printer" rather than a "Local Printer" when you get to that point in the install.
You'll also have to enable File and Print sharing in your netowrk settings, if you haven't already done this.

OK this is the simple way to do it.
(1.) Are all the computers using the same OS?
If they are you don't need to install a driver on each of them because windows will do it automatically.
If you already have the driver installed on the machine that the printer is attached to right click on the printer, then click properties and then go to sharing.
Enter a share name and click OK.
Now go to the other computer, start the add printer wizard and select network printer.
You can browse for the printer by clicking on the host name of the machine that has the printer attached, select the share and click OK.
If the OS's are the same windows should auto-transfer the driver and the printer will be installed.
If you don't see a sharing tab on your printer properties you need to enable sharing of printers, see windows help topic on sharing or sharing printers, it might also be a sub topic under printers.
