Why would he be in US custody? Unless it's to what? Give testimony on where he got the chemicals for WOMD?

It's an Iraqi matter. That's where the killings took place.

Watching the news tonight, it seems that the Iraqi court has had thousands of requests asking to be allowed to pull the handle.

News is mentioning that indeed, it'll be filmed. However it'll only be shown, (supposedly) to a few thousand people. Just to prove that indeed it's Saddam. He'll have a hood on. The hood will be removed afterwards to show there wasn't some hoky poky going on.

True...no idea ....but for us Americans to get all geeked up about this is ...umm ...a little bewildering to me. Remember why we're there in the first place......and I'd be a lot more excited if it was Bin Laden rather than Saddam.

It is not such a great idea. The recalcitrant members of the Arab world will see this as America putting one of its own to death in a spectacle. This will not provide positive public relations.

A rather unusual event. A proper sovereign country's leader captured, tried and executed. Of recent times, only Nikolai Ceaucescu comes to mind (though not tried by normal means..)

They already hate us so screw their opinions. I say we put him in one of those nasty torture devices he used on the Shiites or whoever they were.

I'd say a stoning is in order so that lots of people can participate.

Is he not a prisoner of war? If so, our turning him over for a certain demise would have us culpable to his execution.

No, I do not like this person one bit. However, I do like America and its principles.

How do we really know if they kill him or not? Or even if it's him or one of his 11 body-doubles he used?

Another fear I have is that he will "escape" after he is turned over to Iraqi custody.

No, I do not want him executed. To pursue him and kill him as part of an objective of war is one thing, but not execution of him or anyone as a result of a trial. It is time for humanity to set aside this "punishment" and choose moral law.

Hello all from SG;

It took so much from me not to reply till now, this is a very bothering thing for me. As all know i have been here going on 4 years in Iraq, i have saw the good and the bad and i live with it every day.

Yes i am very dedicated to what we are doing here, especially when i see little babies come up to me and call me by my first name Mr *****. They love us to death here.

Let me ask all of you back in the states; have you thought of this ? Do you rember December 20, 1989 when we took out another bad person that is sitting there "USA Miami" in a 5 star jail cell. Before anybody calls me a traitor or anything i am a very dedicated at defending the USA and my record stands for it.

My question is does anybody in the states understand once we hand over Mr. Sadam "yes he did bad and was not a good guy", we the USA are the ones sedning him to the gallows. Yes everybody can say lets see it on TV watch him hang. Do you think of the reprisals for the Amercian Soldiers that are here now.

Did he get a fair trial i am not one to judge, was he guilty that is not my job. Are the Iraqi Gvt. worried about the reprisals that the USA Military will feel from it i highly doubt it, as they are in the secure International Zone that has the USA Military gurading it.

I wish all of you could see Iraq through my eyes the good and the bad then you would understand, but you can not i have to live with all my decision's here good or bad. I am looked at as one of the Iraqi's i earned there hearts and minds, yes that is my job but why can't the immediate USA Gvt see how a few of us have gained there hearts and minds instead of spending millions on a study group that is dictating what will happen.

I am sorry, I love the USA and everything about it; except most everybody is naive and will not understand till they experience everything i have here. Trying to keep from cussing, when you have a little baby come up to you and say do not go there it is bad, or there is no children the way you want to go that means somebody is going to die "Soldier, Insurgent or etc... The little babies love the USA here.

Yes i am married to a lovely Iraqi lady and have a beautiful baby with her, she would love nothing more then hold a confrence to cover all questions. She for one is more of a dedicated patriot then me.

She agrees with me that yes he needs to be persecuted but once we her new country hands him over we are the ones that will pay in the long run.

So sorry for my rant, just wanted to give you an oppinon of someboldy that has been here that long.
