I can't stand OSU ever since the refs handed them the National Title against "The U" in the 2002 Bull$!t Bowl. I boycotted college football until they implemented instant replay after that game. If OSU would have won that game fair and square I would have given them the props they deserve, but that simply wasn't the case, even with bad calls going both ways, the most critical calls were against the U. OSU is now forever at the bottom of my list and I'll route for ANY team that plays against them.

refs are part of the game ... osu was the better team and they won the game ... it was a good call ... what year was that again, and you are still whining about it

you are right ... osu was nothing till this year ... they have won the last 4 out of 5 bowl games with one of those being the natl champ ... osu set a record for first round draft picks last year ... they have a 4-1 ratio with michigan since tressel is at the helm ... they have the longest win streak in college football dating back to last year (when they were nothing)

Who wins will come down to one factor, and Troy Smith is that deciding factor that will launch OSU over Michigan.

Long, long, long way to go to catch USC's consecutive win streak and theirs isn't even the longest of all time. :nope:

naw I remember that game as well.. very bad call even ESPN and alot of other major news casters saw that and talked about it for weeks. Kinda like a few calls this year with a few teams.

Even if it had not been pass interference it still would have been holding. The ref was originally going to call holding but realized that the ball was in the air when it was happening, hence the pass interference call.

Ohio State won the game. I agree there was questionable calls, but Miami(FL) didn't do what they needed to do to win the game. IMO, you can't blame a bad call on Ohio State. Shoot, Texas beat USC last year by 3 points and 6 of those points for Texas occurred when they ruled a TD when Vince Young's knee was down.

Truth is USC had plenty of chances to win that game and they didn't. Miami also had chances to win that game and they didn't. Blaming the whole game on the refs doesn't speak well for Miami IMO. Just my own .02

I think when a football game is won by someone other than the players, then any fan should have a right to whine about it and apparently enough whining took place because now instant replay is in effect. The NCAA wasn't going to allow another giveaway bowl. :thumb:

OSU was not the better team. Miami beat them statistically in almost every column with the exception of rushing (anyone know where Clarett ended up playing?). As the final results indicated, they required the help of the refs in order to get the win. I will however give OSU credit for having a decent defense that year even though the U still threw for over 300 yards that game. :p

I hope Michigan runs all over them. :thumb:

yes, Miami should have done better. I'll give ya that, and yes it's a bit skewed to blame OSU, thats not really who I'm blaming, they just happen to be the team that benefited from the officiating so it's gets annoying to hear all the OSU chest pounding about that game.. I'm not even a bigtime Miami fan, but I do like to watch a good clean game and thats not what I saw that night and it certainly turned me away from the game for a couple seasons.

and yes, Vince's knee was down.. USC was robbed, and I was routing against them. :p

In truth even with that bad call USC was still winning by 12 with 6 minutes to go. They should have won the game, but they didn't. :(

I do hope Michigan wins this weekend though. :thumb:

Even if Miami had the better team, they didn't pull out the win. Simple as that.

I can't tell if you are serious or being sarcastic about Clarett. He is in jail atm.

I had a dream last night......Woody Hayes(his Ghost) was on the side line punching Michigan players as they ran by..............It was the 4 th quarter, The Score was tied , 2 seconds left on the clock, the ball on the Michigan 7 yard line...The ball was snapped....AND THEN I WOKE UP!!!

Any one know the ending?..lol

I know whatchya mean, it's just a shame it had to go down like it did, regardless of the winner/loser. It was a huge black eye on NCAA football IMO. A complete officiating debacle, the entire game. Hopefully the problem is fixed now and it won't happen again.

I forgot my  on the Clarett comment. He turned out to be quite a sad story indeed... so much potential just thrown away.

I haven't really watched Michigan play this year, but I did see OSU almost blow the game when the Illini came out in the second half and put a stop to the OSU offense and almost mounted a glorious comeback. That would have been awesome. :D

It's hard to believe the 2002 championship is still in any question. Here is what the field judge said about "the call"
Field judge Terry Porter said, "I saw the guy holding the guy prior to the ball being in the air. He was still holding him, pulling him down while the ball was in the air. I gave the signal for holding. Then I realized it should be pass interference because the ball was in the air." He said he delayed the call because he replayed it in his mind: "I wanted to make double sure it was the right call."
People also forget that miami had ample opportunity to win the game in OT and OSU shut them down plain and simple. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L23USyZAh3M There wasn't any conspiracy or bad officiating. It was just the way it usually is, the better team won.
Just like the way it will be Saturday when OSU wins again :D

that wasn't the play that decided the outcome.. it was "the call" that took it to that play. Had "the call" been different that play wouldn't have been pressured as it was and hense OSU losing the game.
And as I've already said it I'm not a fan of either team but I see Michigan winning the game since OSU is OverRated :D

i dont think they are trying to catch any win streak. i was talking in the present tense. they, at the direction of tressel are just trying to win week after week. they are focusing on one game at a time. they seem to be doing a good job.

Give it up, Gixxer, we might as well tell the truth.

Yes, OSU hired the same peopple as planted the demolition charges in the WTC to referee the game. Just all part of the larger conspiracy.

Game footage was doctored, and crop dusters were flown over the stadium to drug OSU fans and make them believe they were seeing Michigan victories. Charles Walgreen, is a Michigan alum -- where do you think the maize and blue got the pharmaceuticals to drug Buckeye Nation?

Poor calls were made against both teams, just seemed Miami got the shorter end of the stick, thats all. If I were an OSU fan, I would have still been upset with the refs, even with a win. That game was the poorest example of officiating ever in a national championship game. period. No conspiracies, no cheating, just crap officiating. case closed.

Maybe this year will be OSU's year to do it decisively. If they do beat Michigan, I hope they end up playing Florida for the title. That would be a great game. :thumb:

Not me man. I think that would be a terrible game. Ohio State or Michigan would eat Florida alive. They are a terrible #4 in the BCS. Way to predictable IMO.

I think they would deserve too if they win out. Not because I think they would provide a good game, but because they are a BCS school that would go undefeated.

Florida would definitely have to bring their "A" game, but I think Florida could certainly beat Rutgers or Notre Dame. USC would be another tough one though. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah, this year Ohio State and Michigan are in a league of their own with onlookers wishing they could be even close to as good as these two teams are. It's fun for a season game, but these two teams should both be in the National Championship Game this year. Whoever wins the OSU vs. Michigan game (GO OSU) will crush whoever they play in the National Championships.

Oh I dont think that. USC has Pete Carroll and talent that is second to none. I don't doubt them against anyone. That said Ohio State or Michigan would be favored.
