Jeep Compass

My gf is interested in buying one of these. From everything I have been seeing, there is not much negative. Does anyone own one, or have any "real" information on these?

Same platform as the Dodge Caliber. I was looking forward to getting the Caliber..until I test drove one. They have that variable rate transmission...basically no "speeds" or "gears". I was very disappointed in performance..esp 0-40 ranges...a UPS truck can beat you off the line. But then I'm a bit more demanding in wanting my vehicle to have some nut.

I'm on my 3rd Jeep...currently have a Liberty, had the YJ and TJs before that. The Compass is the first one that's not "trail rated"...I don't know if that's important to you, for most people it wouldn't be.

Advice....drive a few...see if it's fast enough for ya, and if you can get used to that tranny.
