Neo RR Users-Does anyone know......

Post by blebs99 »

Does anyone know what our Cap is on Time-Warner RoadRunner? I talked to a level 3 tech and he claims that he doesn't know. Just wondering if anyone else has asked the question to them and actually got an answer.

i guess that means we are uncapped, but who knows... im still tryin to get a straight answer.

what kind of speeds are you getting? i cant seem to get better than 200 KB, anymore.

booooo!!!!! :( that sucks

Post by blebs99 »

Well, that makes sense (2meg) Because even with the best of the best patches I can't get beyond that!I do believe RR better change the page that they refered DG to! "Speeds up to 10 meg" but notice how they drag "4" in, which is pretty close to what used to be.

They say 768 up-Wonder what that supposed to be now? 200, 400! Maybe I'm doing all my gripeing for nothing then.

It would just be nice if the people who sell the service would know what's what though!

It changes different times of the day for me. Some times my upload will be 450Kbps and other times it will be 362kbps. Downloads are about the same they very all day . Plus by web sites to. They cliam there is no caps at this time. At least that what the tec told me when he was here a couple of weeks a go. To replace my modem and line comeing into the house for their new upgrades.

I'm still going to try Storm90's approach and see if emailing them will get past the penny pinching locally. I notice when I start a download from RR ftp site, it starts at 462 and immediatly drops to 200 and lower, with the average for me being from 179 to 187KBps. DSL Reports speed tests
1924 down/ and a wide variation on up speeds.

*Sigh*

RoadRunner, as of November 1st 2000:

Downloads capped at: 2megs/sec
Uploads capped at: 384kb/sec

ive been informed by RR here in Columbus, Ohio that they arent capping here locally. You can achieve up to 10 MBPS..if you tweak your computer right, although the best I have ever done was a little over 6.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my downloads range from anywhere in the 100's to 300's currently more often than not im in the 4MBPS's according to most speed tests.

ROODY: Do you remember saying that ^^^ ?

SPEED TESTS MIGHT SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT, BUT ITS OBVIOUSLY INACCURATE, WANT A REAL SPEED TEST?? TRY EMPTYING YOUR TEMP INTERNET FILES, HISTORY, AND DELETING ALL YOUR COOKIES. THEN, GO TO A RELIABLE FTP SITE OF YOUR CHOICE AND DOWNLOAD A FILE THAT IS OVER 10 MB. AND ROODY I GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT TAKE ONLY 3 SECONDS LIKE U SAID U GET 6mb/sec and 4 mb/sec. BTW, ALL ROADRUNNER IS CAPPED AT THE 2mb/sec download
and the 384kb/sec upload. IF YOU GET AN ACTUAL DOWNLOAD ABOVE EITHER OF THOSE (which you wont) , THEN WE CAN TALK....

I live in Greensboro, NC, and my cap is 2mbps downstream, and 360kbps upstream... Most RR users have these caps.

31337, Where do you live? If you follow these post it will very from provider to provider. In one of these post in this forum. There is a web site saying their is a law suite going on about this. Due to Each provider has their set differently. This goes against Roadrunner Policy. Also if this holds true. Now that timewarner and aol have merged. Their are going to be alot of different speed packages offered where I live. So I am going to wait and see on that. I recieved a couple of letters in the mail explaining of changings comeing up.So as I said before it depends on your Provider and where you live!

Whats the trick for cut and paste of a download? I've tried everything I can think of short of copying the whole page!

Here's the link I think you were talking about, from here in Rochester-
http://www.BroadbandWatch.org

and here's another one...

Here's Rochester's speed

I have read both, Yes that is true. But where I live my speeds have not decreased yet. Sense I had them come out and fixed the problem I was haveing.Like roadrunner here where I live said their not going to cap us yet, But In the future their will be different speed package in the future. They claim it will not affect the speeds Iam getting at this time. Like I said though I will wait and see. Thanks. Rochester's speeds are a little slower then we are at this time. As I said before its up to the provider as of now and where you live, But will wait and see what happens.

Im not here to argue with you 31337. I dont really consider this a pissing contest for the lack of a better term. Im fully aware of the speeds I get and Im also aware of the fact that locally we dont have a cap. Dont mean to upset you but my speeds are actually higher then numbers you mentioned although, ive recently in the last couple of days had greater inconsistencies in regard to download and upload speeds...and yes I recognize the difference between speed tests and download/upload times.

NO, it dos not. It also says tha files cannot be attached. I routinely get 800kbps in NYC, but the actual downloadig of pages has nothing to do with the speeds.

blebs99: You can not copy/paste an image in your posts, however you can link image files in your posts. To do this you have to upload the image to a website, then just link the image from there!

blebs99-

To learn how to paste an image, go to the "faq" link here on Speedguide- it tells you all you need to know.
