quick question

If i wanna setup 48x300gb Sata HDD's how strong PSU should i buy ?
Any ideas ?

at minimum for jsut them I would say 1250 watt PSU, but Im not sure a regular outlet would have the power to supply all of those.

You would need to look into a storage tower, see how many they can support on one outlet.

Well at WD's site for their 320 gig sata 7200 rpm drive it says 9.5 watts for read/write, so I guess about 480 watts to be safe, and the highest Amp rating is 800mA, so thats 38,400mA, so thats 38.4 Amps needed?

I dunno, thats a ton of power either way!!!

Yeah i will register there,i wanna also know what kind of heat it will produce as well and imo i will need heavy duty outlet for that kind of power.
I will call Hydro and ask them.Hopefully they are not gonna think im gonna grow pot

HDD's are ordered and tower as well,actually 3 of them they didnt have anything that big over here,i also ordered OC3 but i have to pay for connection fees because they have to dig the line to my house,they said 2 months minimum but i just dont wanna see the whole condo complex connected to it since im paying for it,and its not few thousand dollars.I will have to visit lawyer as well.

I will need heavy duty outlet,YOS was right

Electrician is gonna come to my house next week to install stronger outlet,i hope he is not gonna rip off walls,wife would kill me.
Getting the cable to my condo would cost me 25k,i agreed but i'm gonna visit lawyer to make sure its gonna be only for me.
HDD's are ordered Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 300GB 8MB 8.5MS SATA2 NCQ RoHS Hard Drive ,sadly my computer store didnt want to give me discount so i called Seagate and they gave me pretty good deal

Still didnt order cases and PSU,chassis were out of stock so i cancelled the order.
Where is good website for strong PSU's i would order 2000W just to be safe.
CPU is gonna be the cheap conroe with 8gb ram and windows 64.

PC Power and Cooling makes a 1kW PSU now -- a really nice one at that. You could get two and wire them together such that when the first powers on, it also starts the second -- there are actually adapters you can buy to do this, if you don't want to do it manually.
