i used to have internet on both 8mb each but am geting rid of that pc and was woundering if i connect both routers one wireless and one cabled and bridge them i`ll get 16 mb broadband? or if it there is a way i can do it?
You can combine 2x or more broadband connections into some routers that have multiple WAN ports...and have options such as load balancing or failover redundancy.
Example...Linksys/Cisco RV0 models
RV042 supports 2x WAN
RV082 supports 2x WAN
RV016 supports 7x WAN
However.."load balancing" is different from what people think. You will not get a 16 meg pipe out of 2x 8 meg connections. However..if you have a larger network...load balancing can give the network close to 16 megs worth of throughput. This is not something you can really utilize with a small handful of PCs.

Q: How do I double my bandwidth on a single download using this solution? (#2308)
A: The midpoint software uses an advance feature of http spec to split file request up among 2 or more connections and this is down transparent to the user.
The is a good solution, but the best way to achieve a great throughput on a single download is to use midpoint software http://www.midpoint.com or surfdoubler http://www.vicomsoft.com along with download accelerator plus.
I stumbled upon this solution by accident actually. While using the surfdoubler software, I downloaded the windows 2000 sp2 in 1/2 the time. I looked at the software and realized to my total surprise that both connections were being used for a singe download.
How? Well it is simple. Download accelerator breaks an ftp download request into equal parts. Using the ftp resume feature it ask for each part of a file in a separate request. The surfdoubler software load balances each request over two connections. When DAP is done with the download it puts the file together as one.
But what really makes these two stand out together is the fact that DAP searches out mirror site for each part of the file. What this means, is that even if the ftp site you are downloading from is not fast enough, the mirror sites will add to the bandwidth of the total download.
For the life of me i do not understand why these two companies do not enter a partnership or merger.
I have the software and the hardware but just dont know how to set it up please help many thanks
I've heard of Midpoint...a few years ago one of their sales guys was pushing me hard to become a reseller. I didn't. I remember they disappeared....but clicking on the link now, goes to Arteraturbo...appears they bought the rights to it.
Midpoint was a sort of proxy like software....if I remember, was years ago I saw it. Back then it was something you ran on a server..dunno what this new place has done with it...maybe built a 1U appliance by now that does the job....would have to read the manual.
