Is the router also connected to a desktop computer? If so, can you get internet on the desktop? What kind of broadband do you have? Can you connect the broadband directly, and have internet connection? Is any security enabled on the Linksys?

Many questions before answers come.

Have you configured the router to access your ISP (Verizon). As it's DSL, it is likely PPPoE and will need a username and password to connect.
Access the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your router, when authorization box comes up, leave username blank and type admin as the password.

Verizon..you most likely have a Westell modem from them...lately they are usually shipped already running as a router..doing NAT and PPPoE for you. I believe they're also 192.168.1.xxx...so putting another router behind it of the same IP range... :nope: Endless loop.
