A couple of problems, please help SG.

Post by slackerz »

Hello there, I'm having problems with my connection lately. My download speeds are crawling and funnily, I can't do a speedtest over at DSLreports, it always asks me to try again later. I'm using the latest version of Firefox with updated JAVA. Anyway, here's what I got from TCP/IP Analyzer for my connection. I'm on Windows XP SP1 Home edition.

Code: Select all

TCP properties for IP = XXXXXXXXXXXX ()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Your IP (XXXXXXXXXXXX) appears to be behind a web proxy server (XXXXXXXX) and results shown might not be for your system.
TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) <-- current value
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
 64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 52 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)
I was also wondering, whats a proxy server? Maybe that's forcing me to get slow downloads with my p2p sofware. Anyway, I have an Linksys BESR41 Router with forwarded ports for my p2p softwares.

I'd appreciate any advice given. Thanks and have a nice day. :D

My provider is Starhub - http://www.starhub.com/online/maxonline/index.html
And the advertised speed I should be getting is 6500kbps.

EDIT: I've done tests at Speakeasy. I'm getting 2166kbps down and 247kbps upload.
