Recommend me a good camera

I like a camera that can get the fine details and accurate colours of objects. But I don't know much on the details of cameras aside from pixel count. Anyone suggest a good one for close-up objects?

Canon's EOS digital SLRs are aweome, dunno how much you want to spend.
