Qwest DSL Help

Post by reeo »

TCP properties for IP = xxx ()
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030101010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 130784
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65392

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 5231.36 kbps (653.92 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your TCP Window limits you to: 2092.544 kbps (261.568 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 52 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 01011100 (92)
Precedence (priority) = 010 (immediate)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 1 (high reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)
Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DiffServ (RFC 2474) = No valid DiffServ equivalent. See the TCP Optimizer documentation, or RFCs 2474, 2475, 2597, 2598, 2873.

I'm getting 81 DL and 748 UP. My limit is 1500 and 768. UP is ok but DL is real low. I was getting near 1400. I tried three tests at different times but it stays very near the same. I have the latest TCP optimizer. Something has changed, any ideas? I'll be back on line later tonight.

Thanks, reeo

It was set at 10, 1/2 mode, I changed it and MTU. It actually slowed down a tiny bit. My D/L speed is at 79.
Any more thoughts? All was well until a couple of days ago and I never changed a thing.

Speed Back

Post by reeo »

Qwest must have had problems for a few days. As of today my speed is close to what it use to be 1300 down and 780 up.

Question though: I changed MTU back to 1500. Is the network card suppose to be set at 100 full? It use to be set at 10 1/2 mode and my speed use to be faster on the D/L side before what ever problem happened the last few days. Thanks for your help.
