Our System Split Mhz
I had just started employment 2 months ago in the broadband field when our provider split their customers into two separate (downstream) data areas. the original was at 723mhz and the new one is at 735mhz. however trying to get a modem to sync on to 735 mhz is taking up to an hour, what gives!? the only modems that even work in the 735mhz areas are those mini Ambits. I am not an "IN HOUSE TECH" just a contractor with computer background, any suggestions? It has issues even when we have the signal close to 0,also we check all lines for accidental "braid-to-core wrapping" and try using signal amps.

our provider does broadcast video on channel 58 but I am not aware of anyone broadcasting data on the same channel. we have ambits, webstars, and motorola surfboards, available for our install's.which one would you suggest has the best chance? Is there a way to force the modem manually to a specific upstream channel? we have in the past unplugged the coax cable while the modem is powered on to force it's search of the higher downstream signal.what a pain in the #@!
Every system is different so I can't answer your specific question. I would suggest you have a sit down with the system engineer and explain the problems you're having.
There is a way to force the CM to a specific downstream and/or upstream channel. You need to edit the configuration file used by the modem.
