Can you use internet phones on Cable modem ?

I have never thought about this before, but is it possible to dial another persons home phone by using one of these free internet call programs?

If you can, what sites are the best, as in how clear is the reception, etc ?

HI ganja,
Yes, I do it every day. I use net2phone and cable connection. The reception is better than cell phone.

I am using ATT@Home cable internet. For unknown reason, when I made DialPad phone call, the delay was horrible and the receiving party could not hear me. However, if I use either the MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger, the voice quality is much, much, much better.

Conclusion is to try every free services and find out which one is right for you.
