Yes and no. A Western RPG like this will be closer to other games like Ultima than Dragon Warrior, although they'll also share a number of similarities.

It's a good thing I don't have the hardware to run this game just yet, otherwise I wouldn't be getting any work done.

I've been a huge fan of the Morrowind series since Arena came out and I don't even want to think about the hours I lost to Daggerfall even though it was buggy as hell and constantly crashed my PC. :p

Those shots are without HDR. Playing with HDR on instead of Bloom makes this game look 500% better.

HDR is for the 7900 cards and up? Cuz on my 7800GTX bloom and 4x AA looks much better.

I was gonna do screenshots, but after I took one it wouldnt let me take another, hmmm.

HDR works on all GF6 and 7 series cards and all Radeon X1K series cards.

HDR is most beneficial outdoors obviously. It is like night and day, make a saved game place outdoors looking into the distance. Now turn on HDR and look at it, now turn HDR off and look at it, back and forth, you'll be like "holy crap"

But with HDR on, when I lose AA, I'm like holy crap, that dagger has "jaggies"(sp)!

Yes, that is the downside to HDR in the game.

With a fast video card though you can run at high resolutions with all the game effects maxed, so the jaggies are less noticeable.

I prefer high rez + HDR + all game effects maxed out in this game over having Bloom + AA.

Im running 1920x1200, settings maxed, 4x AA and bloom. Little choppy with a like of enemies around in a heavy forest but otherwise good. With HDR it runs slower.

I'm actually impressed with the game, this is the first time I've given Elder Scrolls a try. I kept laughing at people needing high end systems for it. Then someone gives me the game, figure I'd try it, and damn! its very well made.

You probably don't have all the video options cranked up and turned on though to play at that resolution with 4X AA enabled. Also AF has to be forced from the control panel, there is no in-game option for it.

I dont force AF. I do have all the options cranked, its not smooth, but its not bad.

I'm waiting on a performance review for Oblivion, XFX 7900GT XXX and 1900XTX ATI, come on, go make that review :D

In a lot of ways, Elder Scrolls IV eases the player into the game much easier than the earlier games. You should be able to head back into Morrowind or the earlier titles after going through Oblivion.
