Admittingly its old and outdated, but its what i got..
Im runnin a 9800 Pro in one system and Ti 4400...
The Ti 4400 has gotta go.. Its great on older games but newer stuff still has issues, but still runs..
the 9800Pro is doing a good job but I just got 2 new games recently and its sputtering alot. I plan on getting a new Sound and new Video card for both systems. And I wanna get the same for both. Even the playing field some, adding ram as well to system B.
So here I am.. AGP for Graphics, and PCI for sound.
I've been looking at the 6800 GS and even the 7800GS cards, How do they compare? worth the upgrade? or should i just get another 9800 pro for system B and call it a day??
As for sound cards, Is creative labs still top dog or is there another company that does the trick?
What im looking for is a sound card that will a) take the drivers and install them without giving me a hard time like all my sound blasters do [from CD or from website it refuses to install the drivers].. b) speeds up the system as it takes load off the CPU c) Sounds better than onboard d) Surround sound not needed nor cared about.. the surround sound speakers system i have is outdated and I dont have the room to utilize it anyways.
The cheaper the better.. my budget has gotten REALLY tight latly.. so i've gotta save up as much as i can to do this...

i loved my 6800GT untill i had to RMA it a few weeks ago, in a few minutes i am installing a 7800GS that leadtek sent back for me, should be slightly faster than what i had before.
i went from a 9700pro to the 6800Gt and saw a big difference, in fact i reinstalled the 9700pro while waiting for RMA and really had to crank down the settings in quake 4, i mean really it was bad.

Yeah.. Im seeing that the 7800 GS is only an extra 30$ more than the 6800 GS.
So I'll probally pick those up..

SpareX, I've been doing a ton of research lately on AGP video card to update my 9800 Pro. I've pretty much decided that the 7800 GS is the best bang for your buck and will give you a card that will last for a while. The x800XT is also good, but I'm leaning towards the 7800 GS.

Yeah Dunster, I have found the same articles it seems.
ATI has even said.. they are done with AGP, only thier secondary manufacturers will be making any more agp cards.
As it stands then the only agp card that does shaders 3.0 is the 7800 GS..
Amro Thank you for the extra confirmation!
I'll be doign the priceing and buy 2 really soon =)
