Range extender

Post by scj6771 »

I have the D-LINK DI-524 wireless router and seem to be having poor signal strenth in certain areas of the house. (house is old with plenty of thick walls) I would like to improve the strength and thought about purchasing a range extender, do you guys and gals have any thoughts on what product might be best? I have 2 desktops, 2 laptops and 2 XBOXES (both of which are setup for XBOX Live).

I suggest to get an AP because it will boost the signal somehow, whereas if you buy a range extender/expander Im not certain if DLINK got range expanders. Linksys Range expanders have a list of compatibilites too, and Im not sure if it is compatible with your router. An Accesspoint also acts as a terminal going to the router so I believe it will do.

Could be time for a new router. The "new" preN routers will extend your range significantly. Belkin/Linksys are good ones. Unless you live in an enormous castle, the preN's should cover the entire home.
