Whatever the brand of your router is, you can also try this site:

You only need to configure the computers on the same network! If the router is blocking some ports then thats the time you do port forwarding but I believe by default the router will allow the file and printer sharing already so just configure your computer first to recognize your network.

Yes, firewalls could be blocking them too. One way to know it is to check what IP address you got and try to ping the address from the other.

See which computer blocks the connection and try to disable the firewalls on that computer. To check IP address: Start > Run> type cmd > then type ipconfig and take note of the IP address... e.g 192.168.1.100
If you got the IP address already, ping its address from the other computer
start>run>cmd>ping 192.168.1.100
see if it gives relies from 192.168.1.100, if not then turn off the firewalls and be sure that you hvae configured the computers in same work group.

1st make sure under the network you have Microsoft Network enabled for client
2nd make sure you have File and printer sharing service enable
3rd of course the tcp/ip enabled
when thats done...right click on my computer and left click properties and then click on the Computer name tab
then click on Change computer name. Type in WG-1 for both computers
click ok and it should say Welcome to the wg-1 workgroup
don't reboot
double click my computer, right click on local drive C and left click on Sharing
and security, click where it says "If you understand the risks of sharing the root drive blah blah" , next under Sharing and security click where it says
If you understand the security risks and want to share the drive without running the wizard" and next just click where it says Just enable file sharing and click OK
Reboot
when you have rebooted both systems and as an example of a simple computer name using computer-1 and computer-2 , from computer-2 click on Start, Run and type in
\\computer-1\c and hit enter or click on OK
this should bring you to the Computer-1 C- drive showing you a simple listing of directories. You won't be able to access C:\windows or C:\program files or C:\documents and settings unless you disable simple file sharing and set up the security for access to everyone.
You should be able to do the same for Computer-1 to access computer-2
If not, then disable the firewall on each computer and test it without the software firewall. If you have assigned static IP's then make sure they are within range of your Routers settings and insert the DNS settings and Subnet Mask that your router is pulling from your ISP from the status page in your Routers config.
Good Luck

never heard of that one. I'd probably just stick with windows built in firewall then a crappy one. Good luck!shimq1 wrote:Thank you, it worked right after I disabled Look'n'Stop firewall.

Be sure that you do the TCP/IP, workgroup, computer name configuration for file and printer sharing on the Wireless Adapter of that computer
