I don't think these are true albino's. The calf isn't for sure - too much brown on it, but the cow must be close.

The only way to tell is to see the eyes.

Very cool, I have spent most of my life in North Central Canada and I have never seen moose like that. Most likely they were too well camouflaged for me to see I guess. ;)

I know what you mean, I had to hit two of them before I woke up and slowed down at night. Now once it gets dark I don't drive over 90km(50mi)/hr. This winter it has kept me from hitting at least three deer.

Not to worry Meggie, they are quite passive unless you get between a cow and her calf. She might stomp you pretty good.

The only other time you might have to worry is if you got mixed up with a bull during the rutting season, and then you might get moosed, or gored, depending on the size if his horn.

This is a surprise to me. I didn't think they had moose in Wyoming. I know they have elk, I just didn't thing they had moose. You taught me something today.

If you like moose, you should like buffalo. Does not have the wild taste, but it is lean like moose. A lot of ranchers here are selling whole buffalo for less then $300. Got my name in for one.

[quote="Rings890"]Very cool, I have spent most of my life in North Central Canada and I have never seen moose like that. Most likely they were too well camouflaged for me to see I guess. ]

This is only the 2nd one I have seen. The other was a true albino, pink eyes and everything. I was quite young at the time and we lived in an area called "The Stony Settlement". It was and end of the road setup and not many, but the locals knew about it. As usual word got out and some outsider came in and poached it.

The only thing he didn't count on was getting caught by the locals. Someone saw his truck on the way in, and he and two others were waiting for the poacher when He came out. They took his gun, striped him, but everything into his truck and set it on fire. They then tied him so he had to walk with his arms outstretched.

Oh, did I mention it was in the spring when there were lots of mosquitos about.

Yup, I used to travel from Victoria, BC to St. John, NFLD. and everywhere in between from '94-'98. I was told by a Mountie in Manatoba that Moose love the road salt that the snowplows drop on the aspalt.
