2006 Mini Cooper S Checkmate

Post by minir »

Hi to All

Something different perhaps?

I had an original and believe me they are not made for our Winters. Too low to the ground, to the point i got hung up with wheels still spinning on a centre drift of snow on a country road going home. Funny, but no fun. :rotfl:

You can only do so much to a retro design before it's not retro anymore. The solution? Option packages, like Mini's new-for-2006 Checkmate. Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh takes the supercharged Checkmate out for a run and finds a car that's not very comfortable, but loads of fun to drive.

'Mornin' Minir! :D

Adorable little car. "Checkmate"...wonder if they pulled anything from "Checkmate" boats...

I used to have an old one years back...they've always made high performance muscleboats.

Funky interior. Odd center console, having the 2 pillars there to support it..somewhat open.

Probably too cramped for a big ape like me though....but cute for sure.

Every normal man must be tempted at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

Hi YeOldeStonecat, dazzaf, Bastid & Prey

YeOldeStonecat
I remember the Checkmate Boats. A friends, friend, a Cop in Detroit had one. Seriously quick.

They do handle, without doubt. A real Sunday morning, twisty road fun machine to be sure. Yours sounds fabulous :thumb:

Bastid
Don't forget that's Cdn Buckaroos :) Still its VW GTI territory which is a very serious car as well and much more practical as a family unit.

Prey
Totally meant to be driven all out, with a Big Smile :) .

Thanks Guys and do enjoy your day :)
