Hard Drive Mirroring

Post by mkspeed600 »

Hi there-
As of right now I have a 10GB partition (C:\) with my operating system, WinXP Pro, and some other things on there. I also have a 120GB SATAHD that I want to mirror the OS onto. What do you recommend so I don't have any problems with the transfer or any suggestions? I will make a seperate partitionon for OS on the 120GB HD. Will I even see a performance increase in the way thing run if I stuck the OS on the SATA? Thanks for helping. Lemme know if I am forgetting anything.

Hello MK!
But you didn't say what software you're going to use for mirroring?
A suggest you to try Acronis True Image, first I used it it only for backup, but it perfect suits for upgrading.
Just make a clone of your OS partition and restore to the needed place onto another, so due to intuitive wizard it'svery easy and safety.

Are you mirroring or copying a drive? Mirroring may imply RAID1 to some people, whereas copying a partition is a one-time-event.

Hello!
As I understood, mkspeed600 need to move OS from 1 HDD to another, for this act I use hard drive cloning tool.
Very fast.
