just wondering.i have the DW6000 satellite modem, when i check the MTU manually it says it's 1500 ,but when ti run the TCP analyzer it says 1420 wich one is accurate?

it's proably 1500 if i'm not mistaken those have a proxy on it so it could be the analyzer is not getting though the proxy ,or the proxy throwing the analyzer off. :D

If the Analyzer does not report your external IP address correctly, it is probably reporting some proxy server's MTU as already stated.

Other than that, a router, or some special encapsulation can reduce the MTU that outside servers see. If that is the case (ie. if it is your IP address) I'd use the MTU that your ISP provides for.
