For some reason after I installed XP a slew of services wont start on system startup. I've reinstalled Windows 3x all to no avail.
The scriptds I need loaded on startup are: DHCP Client, Network Connections, and Windows Installer.
These are pretty critical as Windows Installer affects the installation of drivers on both startup and updating, DHCP and network connections- obviosuly because I need to be online.
If someone can write me a startup script, or point me to an application that will monitor/edit startup services that would be terrific. I've edited the services manually to no avail using several methods.
Xp Script needed plz

You probably have some other dependant service(s) set to manual or disabled. Also, windows installer service is NOT needed at startup, it has nothing to do with loading drivers at startup, or updating drivers. That service is used for installing software. It can safely be set to manual and it will start automatically when certain software installations require it.messiah wrote:For some reason after I installed XP a slew of services wont start on system startup. As was stated above, there is s/g else wrong if you have set those services to automatic and they do not load at boot. A script is NOT the solution. The solution is to correct what's broke.
Open services.msc and export the list and post it here.
note: export as tab delineated, open in a spreadsheet app like excel, delete the description column, from there export as html, view html locally & copy+paste list here.

Remote Procedure Call(RPC) MUST be set to automatic and started else hardly any other services will ever start. This is NOT Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locater, it's the one above it in the list.
