I heard that Plextor just came out with a new DL DVD Burner that pushes 18x speeds.
I heard this was supposed to be a great drive and I put a purchase of the PX-716a on hold so I could compare, but I can't find any real info on it. (or where to buy one)
Is this drive a myth or maybe just not released yet?

not too sure if manufacturers will rush out and make 18x media just for Plextor.

of all the drives i have bought over the years, plextor is the one brand that i have never had a problem with.
maybe a little more money than some other brands, but i think i have got my moneys worth out of them.

I've never had any problems with my Plextor drives either. That's part of the reason I wanted to stay with them.
I'm sure they will release the 760 as soon as I buy the 716. (That's what happened last time I bought one)

I have the 716A as well. I'd stick with it if I were you. Why bother buying a burner that can POSSIBLY burn media a few seconds faster?

After I bought my 708a they came out with the 716 with-in a couple of weeks.
The only thing that I didn't like about the 716 is it comes bundled with Roxio instead of Nero.

I used to be a "Roxio" guy. Until about a year ago and I finally used Nero. The learning curve wasn't too steep and it can do sooo much more, and it's sooo much faster.
