Another thought - many gun rights advocates (meaning peeps who feel very strongly about the topic) are pro-Bush. His latest admission to attacking civil liberties (NSA taps) should make them wonder...unless article II is more important than IV...

cyber...it's always been my contention that it won't be a moderately liberal base that takes away gun ownership but one from the fringe left (never been even close to power in this country) or......as you already somewhat noted....the fringe right.

See here is where i dont' understand people. Everyone acts like people are carring around "cop killers" or "armor piercing" rounds. Ive been shooting since i was 4 years old and i have NEVER used either of those rounds. I agree that armor piercing rounds have no place outside of miltiary use.

You have used the m16 a few times. DO YOU understand that the civy version is a semi automatic rifle that shoots .223 (5.56). Same bullet but its hardly a fully auto. Even the military "m16' are not full auto, they are 3 round burst. The full auto version is the m4 nowadays. Also the .223 isn't exactly gonna pierce a brick wall. yeah it would go threw drywall but you are acting like its gonna hit someone threw 8 walls or something. These are the bullets that have been known to graze off of people heads....

m16 has been used many times as being TOO big and yet you say its fine to deer hunt and such. Personally if i was gonna deer hunt i would want to use a .308 or something. Which btw has even more stopping power than the SKS that was mentioned. .308 = 7.62x51 compared to the SKS = 7.62x39

I dont' know anyone who is carrying around stinger missles in their back pockets. Nor deer hunting with .50 cal sniper rifles. Do you even know how much those cost?!

Do me a favor and go to a gun range if you can find one. YOu will see that most people who "shoot" are very mature and would never use their weapons to do harm unless need be.

You know there are crazy people who by knives every day right? :(

No offense at all, but I think your issue is not 'understanding people' rather listening to them. I kept specifying 'military weapons'. I do believe that peeps have the right to have a gun to protect themselves - strongly so, in fact. But not at the expense of innocent peeps' safety.

I was simply stating that military-class weapons (and/or ammo) are more likely to hurt innocent neighbors than less powerful stuff is. Can we not acheive personal safety at home without shooting through walls? I bet there is a comprimise

Knives don't go through drywall. In SF with these old rowhouses (early 1900's) high calibre rounds cut walls like cheese.

I am still curious as to how gun rights and gay marriage rights are comparable from a personal safety/security perspective.

I believe a shotgun is the best home defense weapon. It wont go through outside walls (if it does, not far enough to harm anyone outside) but at close range (which is home defense) itll anihilate anything you hit. I still think handgun rounds are dangerous as if they hit a window theyll go until they hit something.

Actually if its a High Calibre low velocity round then it has a better chance of stopping at a thin wall than a low calibre high velocity. and show me some evidence that m16/ar15's are used to kill people more than 9mm handguns are.

I didn't say they had anything to do with safety the have something to do with personal thinking. I think homo marrage is bad, you apparently think guns are bad.....i said that earlier...

Hmmmm....I have a combination I suppose here. A loaded shotgun by the front door...a loaded pistol in my computer desk, not easily seen, a loaded pistol in my bedroom...and my varmit pistol above the mantle loaded with bird shot. This is a pretty good sized home...and no way if I were caught in the back of the house...could I get to most of them fast enough....so the entire house is covered. It is also very very dark in this area...and out in the country. The response time for any law enforcement to get here...is totally scary...unless they just happen to be in the area on another call. Better safer than sorrier...imo.

I'm kinda new to this hole marrage thing too. Only been a little over two years, but some of it wasn't together (basic, tech school...blahblah). However if she had to pressure you into marrage and from what she is doing according to that post, i would run screaming if i were you. Chances are its only gonna get worse. If she is threatening to lie to have you tossed in jail, not cool. RUN AWAY!!!

Document everything you can and leave her. Do what you can to prove she has been unfaithful if you think she has been.

I bet she checks this forum if she knows you post on it, so she knows what's up.

Good luck

we are 30 and 31 yo, we started this at 17, but we did not get together until 8 1/2 years ago, and got married this past august 26th. we love each other but i do not know how she can go from totally wanting me one night and then be the most evil person i have ever come across ... it saddens me, i really think it was destiny, fate or something that brought us together .. i guess whatever that force was doesn't mean that it was a good force or for the better ... :(

Well, your doing it to yourself staying with someone who treats you that way. Its flat out evil, you shouldnt allow that to be done to you. Its understandable because of your history together that you seem unwilling to let go, but were just giving you the logical advice that blind love cant see :) Good luck.

well there is also the tie of my daughter, Shelby Elizabeth, of which i doubt i would get custody of and i always promised her that she would never wake up in the morning living in a different house ... or if something went bump in the night that daddy would drag it outside and kick the crap out of it

Its super tough with a child in the mix...but you really shouldnt stay in such a relationship for the child. She is better off if her parents are happier, and unfortunately there are lots of divorces in this world these days. Sucks though, I dont really have too much advice since I dont know the details of everything. You will always be there for your daughter, regardless of being married to her mom or not. Just remember that.

Sounds like your wife might be bi-polar. See if see will go get professional help. Some meds might be able to stabilize her mood swings. If she is just plain crazy than the court might award you custody.

man that's a tough one ... but with the way your wife is acting, if you document it and have witnesses, you should be able to get custody.

you don't want to leave your daughter with someone like that ... :(
