Put a warning sticker on your front door. Something along the lines of there being a 24/7 camera watching the place. Someone else suggested notifying the neighbors and making sure everyone close to your house is on the same page. Maybe if more than one homeowner reports the same activity the police will increase patrols in your neighborhood.

I am pretty sure that you posting in all CAPS is not going to stop anything though. :)

Put a bright porch light up, or change to a bigger bulb. Lights deter crime...

Yes it semi auto. The military version is full auto, this is basically an AK-47 with a different stock.

Those guns are too big. My first off-duty weapon of choice will be a mini-glock .40 or .45 (known as Glock 27 and Glock 30).

Don't let the tone of the members get you too out of touch, 750....I'd be just as concerned and mad as hell.......

There are some good suggestions here. If...you do get a pic of someone on your property and can identify them, it's good as gold for at least a trespassing charge. I would guess for most states, anyway.

I was the pres for our neighborhood crime watch. Unfortunately, the key players in my neighborhood have moved and what is left expect one person to take care of business.

If he knows enough people in the neighborhood, he can see if they are interested and then contact the local police department. I had the PD and district councilman attend my meetings and a lot of good information came out of it.

What led my watch attempt to failure was not only the key players moved, but the people who attended were only concerned with zoning laws along with the lack of involvement on their part. I had to apply so much effort to keep the meetings on a "neighborhood watch" track.

It may be different in his case.

All I can say is if you guys choose guns as your home defense, do your research and know where you stand legally if you shoot someone on your property or you will be screwed.

Yes, I have my own watch here, a little old lady next door, that knits by her widow that can tell you what happened on this street for the last 45 years down to the hour. When she call the po-po she gets results. She aslo knit me a blanky, and has the very best home made brownies. I do her a few chores when something breaks. Nicest people on the block her and her hubby.

No, better to check the laws so you can use the gun and be safe and not screwed. If not, properly securing the hosue with locks/alarm/lighting and cameras are better.

its not self defence if you can get away from them.

if they ar going to shoot you and you feel 100% threatened, and know if you run your dead.. feel free to pull that trigger. that also goes if they are aiming that gun at your family too. if you cannot convice him to let you go and they can take what they want, and they are gonna kill you anyways.. you had better be able to relaize that its fear that will keep your free, not "he was in my house so i shot him" courage.

I've taken a few self-defence definition courses for work, and I have to know my stuff..

in court. Material objects mean nothing if you fear your life (or someone that is under your care, like your family) and take another is one thing.. if there was a possiblity that you could of gotten away with your life and the lives of those around you without getting hurt.. your going to jail.. it will be a manslaugter case but its still jail.

Some States laws DO step in and give you more rights.. FL for example.. if someone breaks in, threatens you and you shot them while they are still in your house, your fine as long as they remain in your house, or thier body for that matter. if they jump out a window, that changes things..

You can put cameras and lights Anywhere you please, but a little advice for the starter of this post
----
1) if going to use cameras, be careful where you point them and test their clarity in all lighting situations.

2) lights, Great theft detourant. but doesn't scare the smart or brave, or dumb for that matter.

3) Door Sirens, once the door is open an alarm goes off, these can be local to the door only or can be linked to one large siren. if you use the large siren option, notify the local PD that you've had one installed so that they will know when that goes off its more than you just disturbing the peace with loud noise.

4) if you want to go alot better and safer.. Call up ADT and Brinks Security companys and get a system installed. WORTH in investment, they will do all the hassles for you and you'll have alot better peice of mind if something happens.

I STRONGLY stand by option 4 due to personal experience. Someone broke into my fathers house in FL while he was at work. they trashed the place took some small but expensive items, they didn't know till hours later. They got a system installed by brinks. about 2 months after its installed someone breaks in again.. Alarm goes off and Cops arrive in less than 3 minutes, not only was it fastest i've ever seen a cop respond to that area, but it was also fast enough to catch to kids doing the crime. They do more than just crime too.. Fire and Medical emergencies as well.. that medic button got an ambulance to his house in about 3 mins after i pushed it one time when he was having chest pains and we needed a fast responce.

Normally took the PD and Medics about 10 mins to get there.. that security system cut off over 5 mins in response time.. and when it comes to safty and life.. 5 mins is a LONG time......

Not much a coroner can do with a bullet riddled corpse when the shooter(me in this case) fully admits to doing such. They can't reconstruct the scene in terms of what was said, my intentions/thiefs intentions etc. Yeah, I put 9 rounds of Federal Hydrashoks thru his chest, I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If hes unarmed and shot in the back it might not look to good for ya.

The other things to think about are what if ur not home, sleeping, in the bathroom/shower or have guests over. Home security shouldnt be based on confrontation, that should be a last resort.

let ur friend keep the gun.. better then going to jail for a very long time. Getting buttraped by a man that makes u hold his pocket when u walk around, is going to seem a lot worse than someone hangin out outside ur house.

If u actually use your brain about the situation, rather than all these guys that are bragging about how big their penis is because theyve got big guns.. think about this:

Why would a stranger spend so much time "casing" your house and not have done anything yet? people looking to rob a house usually dont spend too much time around one place.. BUT it sounds like its more personal then that. If this guy is jerking on ur doorknob, and repededly hanging around ur house i would say start thinking about who you or your brothers, or your family has pissed off lately?
Doesnt sound random.

Guns... that's the american solution to these situations.. It would be nice to see less use of firearms. GSX .. the police can undoubtedly help you if you make a formal report.
