Irvine man killed in solo accident
Police say speeding contributed to crash

By GREG HARDESTY
The Orange County Register

An Irvine man died early today when his speeding BMW swerved off a freeway ramp and slammed into a tree, authorities said.

Richard Linkon, 30, was driving "at a high rate of speed’’ when his black 2005 545i sedan zoomed off the left side of the connector from the northbound San Joaquin Hills (73) Transportation Corridor to the northbound Costa Mesa (55) Freeway, a CHP dispatcher said.

The BMW wrapped around and uprooted a tree.

Linkon was pronounced dead at the scene. :(

Wow lets pray for his family guys.

Yes, it is very tragic and unfortunate. :( He sits in the office right outside my cubie and he was always here with me in the morning. Please everyone pray for his young family and his soul, and we thank you all for your prayers.

His family, friends and co-workers are in my thoughts and prayers.

It is so sad when a young life is cut short. All of us need to live each day to it's fullest and never leave a situation, a relationship or the end of the day angry at another person. One day it might be too late to make amends....

So true :( None of us ever have a guarantee on life...or how long we may be granted here on this earth...tis all pre-progammed in the Masters plan)....in my humble opinion. Live and love each day as it were your last...because it very well may be. Hug a loved one, touch a friend, share your joys and sorrows as well...a sorrow or fear shared is half the burden...a joy is totally enhanced. Angel Blessings

When I called you yesterday Sammy and you told me this, I was floored. As you know, I didn't care for him at first. I thought he was cocky and arrogant. But once I got to know him better, I realized he was just confident and an all around nice guy. Prayers went out and will keep going out to him and his family. Very sad

Seconded.

Although I didn't speak to you personally, Richard was a good guy and he is missed in the office. Prayers still going out to your family. If you or anyone else in the family ever needs anything, please call me or PM me hear at SG. Take care bro, and stay strong... for the family.
