Charter Pipeline

Post by Stumpy2000 »

I use Charter Communications as my cable service provider. When I play games online, my pings are low, but I do get phone jacks two or three times per minute when playing quake2 or Unreal Tournament online. Also, when I download files, the transfering stops periodically as well. The computers in my house (including mine) are connected to the Linksys 4 port 10/100 switch, and the cable modem is the General Instrument Surboard SB3100. The firmware on the router is upgraded to the latest version. Does anybody else experience these problems with Charter? Thank you.

Ok so this has nothing to do with with MA., but I am sure some Smryna users may read this.
As of today, we were told that Smryna was no longer on the board for slow speeds.
Let me know what's up.

I also use Charter Comm. as my provider and am experiencing the exact same problem. I use the Linksys cable router going into a Linksys 10/100 4 port hub. I can get low consistent pings to servers put I get the phone jack about 2 or 3 times a minute as well. I have tried different NIC cards to help resolve the issue but nothing is working so I believe it is either charter or the linksys router. I would find it hard to believe that the router cant handle a 512kbps connection though.
