I didn't see another Tweak site for XP. Here's another. Since I didn't see it... http://www.tweak3d.net . It has been a while since I checked the site, but it should have tweaks and such.
Windows XP SP2, Dell OptiPlex GX60, W/ 40 GB WD HDD, Internal Intel integrated Graphics, Soundmax Digital Audio, Northwoood 1.80 GHz 400 MHz FSB Celeron D Processor, not HT Enabled (Upgradeable to 2.0), Office XP, SP1, Intel Pro 100 M/VE Network Connections adapter, 3Com Ethernet Adapter....and I dun remember what else. Oh yeah, Norton Antivirus 2005 Professional Edition.

The tips and tweaks are good articles, however, what I am wondering is whether there is/are methods in determining what the various threads and processes that get to be running under XP, connect to or adminstered by.
A lot of the names that show up with the Task Manager, are someone's shorthand. They are not usually too informative. So far, on it's own, the window's OS has not the capability to pull up what may be critical and what could be superfluous and able to be eliminated.
At times the number of processes float above 66 and has reached in excess of 80 even though there are no more than 11 task bar background tasks and task manager itself running.

HELP! Several months ago, I was directed to a web site by all you great folks here at SG.NET where there was a list of all the various Windows XP Services and it helped with tweaking Windows to run better. It gave a description of each service and the recommended state to run with, (Auto, Manual or Disabled).

I need that and cant find it. Can someone please direct me to this again. I will save it as a favorite this time. Thanks!!

Slimming Down Windows XP: The Complete Guide

My site went down for the full month of September. I really haven't much control over the site, because it really isn't "my" site. The site belongs to a generous lady named Sadie who lives in England. She gave it to me to support my work on Slimming Down Windows XP: The Complete Guide.

The guide was always for you. That is why I created it. It is my gift to those who always wanted to know which files they can delete from Windows XP, but couldn't find their answers. My site was only an afterthought.

Should the unforeseen happen, should my site go down again, whether temporarily or permanently, you should know that two other sites now host my guide for you, WinCert.net and Jan's Graphix an Stuff.

Slimming Down Windows XP: The Complete Guide has always been and will always be a work in progress. I edit and make changes to its contents on a continuous basis. I will continue my work on my guide on my site as well as on the above two sites.

Sincerely,

Bold_Fortune
