Backing Up your computer?

Post by WAC JR »

I'm going to get a new computer and was wanting to back up my files. Would the easiest way be to just back up the " documents and settings " folder then just install all my programs?

You'll still want to reinstall your programs, and make a list of what "stuff" you need to backup/transfer. Documents...easy, e-mail, still fairly easy. Quickbooks company data...easy. Other things...need to list them and see.

Hello, WAC JR!
If I understand, you want to backup some programs too.
For this you'd better use hard disk backup software like Acronis True Image.
I always use to make a backup of my system. Just need create full disk or separate partition exact image. Make a bootable CD (due to highest level compression it takes not much place). Then you'll be able restore it on any hard drive, and will get all data, OS, apps on another PC, and have not re-install everything again. It's very fast and dependable method.
My best recomendations!
