I am just curious as to what you are on (service wise, not drugs.... LOL)
and what speeds you get.
I am on a 768kbps cable modem but max around 650 or so...... but as you know that varies greatly. Yes I know that is slow compared to some of you guys but that is as fast as I can get.
Thanks

Well here goes de keys to de ranch, I am on @home, 500 CPU, have tried all patchs but Cablenuts works best for me, I changed the RWIN to 580689 and the GlobalmaxT to the same number, d/l close to 600KB, Net Stat Live average says 790 KB, that's what works for me, Oh yea I use fast settings on Cablenuts patch, if your CPU isin't big enough use normal settings
whoa guys calm down when i was writing this thread i was on an oc-3 now i am back on my cable. still around 500-600 in dl rates thanx to patches and a lil from cablenut
Give me a fish, and you feed me for a day, teach me to fish and I won't be so damn lazy.
I just did it and it took 15 seconds.
2nd time was 20 seconds
I am on cable and I downloaded a song from napster last night that was 5MB and it took 1 minute 15 seconds and that is about as fast as my connection gets

That is what I figured...... you guys are getting kilobits per second not kilobytes like everyone keeps saying.
If you were getting 1 Megabyte (you are getting 1 megabyte maybe) per second that would be 1024 Kilobytes per second, meaning that you could download the whole Windows operating system in about 3 minutes and we all know that won't happen.
so if 1 MB took you 11 seconds that is about 93 Kilobytes per second or 759 kilobytes per second

Garett i dl at about 550 and up in KILOBYTES the max a cable modem can dl right now is like 1.2 MEGABYTES because cable companies only give out a 10 MEGAABIT connection, no higher.
Jumping around to differance downloads can be deceiving also.
Location and Time plays a BIG factor in all of this.
3 or 4 am in your back yard can get you up to 1.5 GB if you time it right!
Count how many jumps you had to make to get there!
No Question is a dumb Question when it comes to Tweaking!

That's correct, as cable systems are limited to 10mbps (10mbps = 1.2MBps). However, 1.2MBps is rare and usually just a burst.
Took me 6 seconds, i also do not have DAC on and my tweaks are off, i'll redo the test when my new PC is running tuesday, i am in the middle of swtiching PCs not the best time to test performance

That is a 1MB(1024kb) file, a hair over actually,(1060kb)
I no longer have cable. I now have Earthlink DSL, which is no where near as fast as my cable was. In fact, my cable was 75x faster (5mbps down/1.1mbps up). It flew, when it worked.
