Every once in a while you run into combinations of brands that simply don't get along. Ideally you want identicle brands across the board, but usually you can get away with mixing brands. But every now and then, a you'll come across a mix that won't work together. Just because the BIOS sees the RAM properly doesn't mean much at all, the important thing is the OS can't complete a bootup.
These days, it's important to get RAM that's certified and approved to work in your exact motherboard. Most RAM sites, such as
http://www.crucial.com, have memory selection utilities to allow you to select your brand/make/model of hardware, and it produces a list of RAM that's specifically tested, approved, and guaranteed to work in your system. Gone are the days of grabbing "any old stick of RAM that appears to be the right speed/type", and sticking it in a system and hoping for it to work. Sure 1/2 or 3/4 of the time it may appear to work fine, but what about that occasional illegal operating, application hang, or illegal operation, or total lockup or blue screen? Once a week, month, etc. You'll never know what caused it.
This....V-Data brand, never heard of it.
